Garden Route Triathlon hits Mossel Bay Sept. 20 with Sprint to Ultra

The Garden Route Triathlon joins the Southern African Triathlon Series in Mossel Bay on Sunday, Sept. 20 — Sprint, Standard, and Ultra distances on the same coastal weekend that is turning the town into a multi-format endurance hub.

A new series stop, not a one-off

Organiser Electric Ink Media is pitching the same “serious-fun” series formula already familiar at Cape Town and Hermanus. For age-groupers, the Ultra option is the draw; for first-timers, Sprint and Standard keep the weekend accessible.

Why Mossel Bay’s calendar is suddenly crowded

The same coastline hosts the final ISUZU IRONMAN 70.3 Mossel Bay on Nov. 22, 2026, then flips to IRONMAN full-distance African Championship status in April 2027. Garden Route Tri on Sept. 20 is the local series entry point before those bigger brands arrive.

Who should enter

Western Cape age-groupers chasing series points, and travelling expats who want a coastal race without Cape Town traffic. Entries and series info sit with Bike Run Tri / Electric Ink Media; treat the Saturday briefing as authoritative for water temperature and course tweaks.
